10 things you will need in Hungary in December
10 things you'll need when you visit Hungary in December - a list from a tour guide :)
1. Warm clothes. In Budapest in December it can be -10 degrees Celsius at night and between 2-10 degrees Celsius during the day. Hats, scarves and winter coats are a must!
2. Comfortable shoes. You can and should walk a lot in Budapest, as the Castle has a beautiful view of the whole city! The Gellért Hill is also a great view. You can also walk for hours in the centre of Pest. Bring comfortable, warm shoes!
3. Umbrella. Rarely, but it can rain or snow or sleet, so be sure to bring an umbrella!
4. Extra bag for souvenirs. You're sure to find super souvenirs for yourself and your family, not to mention Hungarian chocolates, wines and salami. You can find the list of recommended souvenirs in the "I LOVE BUDAPEST" information pack, which all our tourists receive for free, but you can also buy it in the webshop.
5. A plan for the Christmas markets. There are several Christmas fairs and ice rinks in the city centre, so it's worth planning when to visit.
6. Tour guide for sightseeing. A 4-hour guided tour on the first day can help you get to know the structure of Budapest and its main sights.
7. A list of good restaurants and cafés. After all, it's cold in December and it's nice to have a hot cup of tea while walking. The information pack includes a list of recommendations, by price range!
8. A list of inside programmes. What can you do in the cold, rain or snow during a walk? Budapest is full of interesting museums and indoor activities, you will find a list of these in the information pack.
