Bridges of Budapest
As a tourist in Budapest, there are 4 bridges you need to know, because they are in the centre of the city. They connect Buda and Pest, you can get to the other side in a few minutes.
Chain Bridge. Now (summer 2023) it is under renovation, so you can only cross it by public transport, taxi or bicycle (not on foot or by car).
Margaret Bridge: a yellow bridge that is not completely straight. From here you can get down to Margaret Island. You can cross it on foot, by car or by tram to the other side. At Kossuth Square you can also take the metro, which runs under the Danube to Batthyanyi Square (metro line 2).
Elisabeth Bridge. You can cross it on foot, by car, by bus.
Liberty Bridge: green bridge, once the "Emperor's Bridge". You can walk from the Great Market Hall to Gellért Hill (you can also cross by tram, car). Under the bridge (under the Danube), metro line 4 takes you to Buda.
There are 10 bridges in Budapest. But these are the 4 bridges you should know if you are in Budapest for the first time.
