Margaret Island, Budapest
Today's Margaret Island was created by joining 3 smaller islands in the 19th century. The original Margaret Island (where the St Margaret's Monastery stood) was the small island in the middle. The ruins of the monastery can still be seen today. Margaret's life is very interesting, as she was originally a princess, but lived as a nun from the age of 3.
The island is a huge park with beautiful fountains, meadows, cafes, beach, Japanese garden, artificial garden.
