Parking in Budapest

15/11/2024

Budapest has certain parking zones with different rates. Parking in the city center is the most expensive. And in some zones you not only have to pay, but also pay attention to the maximum parking time of 3 hours! If parking is not available at your hotel, you can choose one of the following options:

1. leave your car in a paid parking lot, even for a few days. For example, at the Rumbach parking lot near the synagogue you can pay for a car for several days. It costs money but is safe.

2. leave the car in a parking lot away from the center that is not paid, for example, next to the Westend City Center or the Arkád shopping center and use only public transportation. It is free, but there is no security.

3. you drive and always check the nearest parking meter or app to see which zone you are in and pay.

On weekends and holidays you do not have to pay for parking.

At the hotel, you can ask what they regularly recommend for guests. (Maybe they have some to the nearest parking building or something like that).

I, as a guide, do not recommend the 3rd option, because it is much easier everything with public transportation in Budapest.
